The Beautiful And Fragile Butterfly Cards And Gifts.

I adore butterflies. The amazing colours, how delicate they are, the fleeting beauty and the way they fly and flutter about. They always remind me of summer, flower meadows, warm days and sunshine.

Butterflies have been around for about 50 million years and their evolution probably started around 150 million years ago.

They are amazing creatures yet are in decline. In the UK we have lost three-quarters of our butterfly population. Their fragility makes them quick to react to changes in climate, and loss of habitat.

Many other birds and animals rely on the butterfly as a food source so their loss can have an effect up the chain. Butterflies are an indicator of a healthy ecosystem and environment.

Freedom, Beauty and Peace are often depicted by the Butterfly. They have often been mentioned in literature such as Shakespeare, The Bible and modern-day poetry.

I also love to take photographs of butterflies. They are however a difficult subject as by their very nature they rarely keep still!

So any photographs I have taken are the result of hours of patience and good luck! I often have the best results taking a comfortable seating area close by some of the flowers that butterflies love.

Here are just some of the items I put together that feature the beautiful butterfly.

I do love cushions and these two below both feature butterflies at rest on flowers. The first is more a summery look with the purples and oranges and the second gives a more autumnal feel I think. Both will look at home with many decorative styles and can be used in a bedroom or living area with ease.
